I woke up among some golden flowers.
It hurt a bit.
I guess when they said "Fallen Human" they meant it literally. That wasn't the only thing I saw when I woke up, either: looking down at me with concern was a tall goat lady.
That's the only way I could describe her. Somehow, it wasn't nearly as scary as it would seem.
She introduced herself as Toriel, a caretaker of sorts for the Ruins, and told me she checked by this patch of flowers every day to see if any children fall down.
Is this a common problem here?
Anyway, she took my hand and leaded me through a few of the puzzles before leaving to get some groceries.
It was taking a while for her to return, and I didn't want to disobey her because she seemed so nice... maybe it was just the child mentality kicking in. So I thought I'd call the dog over for some company, maybe play fetch.
Turns out the little scamp stole a pie crust from her, so I took it upon myself to return it to her.
There's where I encountered some of the monsters that lived here. They didn't seem to know what was going on, but still thought the best option was to use magic against me. It was a bit of a surprise! They looked so docile, but a few of their attacks really could hurt. Luckily, none of them seemed hard to reason with. I didn't harm a single one.
However, there was one Froggit that didn't really attack at all. It seemed distracted by some dust on the ground. The poor thing made me concerned, so I offered it some Monster Candy I found earlier and eventually it started following me through the ruins. They're not one for conversation, but it seemed to enjoy the company. I ended up naming them Dusty.
Several puzzles and random monsters later, I found myself in front of a house, where Toriel was standing looking concerned. Her concern only grew when she saw I was a bit roughed up in my travels, but I told her that I was fine and that I was just trying to help her by returning her pie crust. I also told her about Dusty, which... well, she had a strange look when I said their name, but shrugged it off.
Her home is so pleasant, with a few books and a lovely little bedroom perfect for a child. Even Dusty's mood seemed to improve by a lot.
She's making pie, just because I fell down.
I think I'll just stay with her a while...
...... Wow, D. I didn't know you had it in you to be so cruel. I'm proud of you.
