It didn't seem like it was going to get worse at first, but it certainly did.
First of all, after a long time mulling over what to do, the kid headed back towards the hotel, and I didn't know what else to do but to follow them. That's where we got a phone call from Undyne, telling us that she had something important to deliver to Alphys. We thought that might help our friend's mood, so we accepted the little quest.
Long story short: Shenanigans. And the kid is terrible at roleplaying. They're only like, 7 though from what I can figure...
The shenanigans ended with Papyrus agreeing to train Alphys to have self-confidence, so with nothing else to do we had no choice but to head for the King.
Or so we thought.
Papyrus called us and said that he had to send Alphys "VERY HOME" and that it would be in our best interest to check on her. I was pretty thankful for the distraction (I'm still not ready to face the king), so again we readily accepted.
When we reached her lab, Alphys wasn't anywhere to be found. There was only one place we hadn't looked, and that was a door that led to...
... I...
I don't even what to say what we found there. I had no idea Alphys could be capable of...
*...
*(Monsters. Monsters that had fallen down, and-)
No!
*(-They were fused together-)
Dusty please!
*...
*Ribbit
... l-like everything, it ended up alright... We found Alphys, and it seemed that whatever demons she was facing, she found the strength to face her fears and let everyone know what was happening down there.
But still...
Wish I could say there was some cheerfulness in that lab, but the only thing that came close were those video tapes. I recognized Toriel's voice, but no one else. From what I could figure, Mom had a husband ("Gorey...") and their own child, as well as another human? They sounded like they got along really well, but the children talked about accidentally poisoning their father, and it seemed to end with the human child
...
This... isn't what I needed to hear before seeing the king of all monsters.
We don't have a choice anymore though.
